28 January 2022 – We are pleased to announce the publication of the winter 2021-22 edition of CJC Currents which offers practical insight into issues which affect the shipping industry, including analysis pieces from our lawyers on the EEXI/CII regime, legal implications arising from the carriage of containers on bulk carriers, the assignment of charters and sea robberies in the Singapore Strait. Lead items also cover an assessment of the implications of Brexit for UK workboat operators and an update on the LMAA London new Early Neutral Evaluation Scheme. The publication considers and provides the CJC perspective on recent important English Court decisions including the UK Supreme Court’s decision in CMA CGM Libra on seaworthiness and the Court of Appeal’s decision in The Eternal Bliss on the scope of demurrage and in Shanghai Shipyard v Reignwood on guarantees.
We also report on news of several new joiners at Campbell Johnston Clark, including an introductory piece by Master Mariner Stephen Angove, and the firm’s charity efforts including a marathon for Haven House Children’s Hospice and CJC’s support of the Elijah’s Star crew to row across the Atlantic.
