25 August, 2015 – Bolidt has been selected to supply decking solutions across a wide range of Dutch maritime projects that encompass the entire range of industry sectors. The Dutch flooring and decking specialist will be showcasing its comprehensive range of synthetic decking solutions at Europort 2015.
Support in its domestic market has always been strong, but 2015 has been particularly positive for Bolidt. The company has completed numerous projects for both Dutch shipowners and shipyards, with Bolidt products selected as decking solutions for super yachts, navy vessels, fishing trawlers and ferries.
One of the most innovative projects is the ingenious Texelstroom ferry, based on unconventional thinking and close partnerships between C-Job, Vripack and TESO. The gas-electric hybrid ferry combines a clever design that increases capacity without enlarging the outer dimensions, achieves low emissions and delivers state-of-the-art onboard logistics solutions. The resulting vessel has been developed with the customer and end-user in mind, with Bolidt products lending themselves perfectly to this end.
More than 10,000m2 of BolideckĀ® will be fitted in total. The inner decks will be installed with a special variant of the BolideckĀ® FiftyFifty, giving the effect of wet and dry sand. BolideckĀ® FiftyFifty is a 2-3mm thick seamless decking system based on two component viscous elastic synthetic resins. It is highly suitable for areas of intensive pedestrian traffic. Bolidt, which always works very closely with designers and naval architects, invited Vripack to its facility to experience the product first-hand. The designer then decided to go with this special variation of the BolideckĀ® FiftyFifty.
Other parts of the vessel will be installed with BolideckĀ® 700, which has been selected for its durability and anti-skid properties. C-Job, the naval architect firm behind the project will also exhibit at Europort 2015, the event which is expected to coincide with the vesselās delivery.
Meanwhile, Bolidt recently secured a contract with Parlevliet & Van der Plas for two newbuild trawlers. The first in the series was delivered earlier this year. The ROS 777 ‘Mark’ trawler is 90 meters long and will be operated by “WarnemĆ¼nder Hochseefischerei GmbH”. Bolidt installed a unique application of BolideckĀ® LT in the freezer storage area. This functional deck finishing system is particularly adapted to low temperature environments and retains its elasticity even in operating temperatures as low as -30oC. BolideckĀ® LT is includes anti-skid properties, making it well suited to wet and slippery areas.
BolideckĀ® LT was also installed in the refrigeration areas onboard the Jaczon-owned fishing vessel MS āAfrikaā when it underwent a comprehensive refit at Dutch yard Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen this summer. As part of the project 2,000m2 of BolideckĀ® was also renewed.
Bolidt is a longstanding supplier to the Royal Netherlands Navy and is particularly pleased to have been involved with the JSS āKarel Doormanā, the largest vessel in the RNLN fleet. Fitted out by Damen Shipyards in Vlissingen the vessel is over 204 meters long with a beam of over 30 meters. In total, approximately 18,000 m2 of Bolidt marine decking was installed on the Karel Doorman. The BolideckĀ® systems used are particularly suitable for heavy loads, are wear resistant and have a strong non-slip coating.
Other recent naval projects for Bolidt have included Zr. Ms. Van Kinsbergen, Zr. Ms. Soemba and Zr. Ms. Luymes.
Bolidt will be exhibiting at Europort 2015 and will showcase its entire range of products. To experience the innovative decking systems first-hand, please visit the Bolidt stand ā No. 2302.
